The Network Engineer is responsible for the Planning, Design, Implementation and support of a distributed, highly available and fault tolerant, Cisco MPLS network. You will collaborate with other team members to define, document and enforce network standards. The candidate will be involved and engaged with direct vendor interaction in pursuit of high availability and stability metrics.
Candidate will portray leadership and professional qualities and occasionally interact with several levels of audiences. Must be a critical-thinker, able to address issues with network performance creatively and share these solutions effectively with the Management Team for approval and planning.
•Configure, install and maintain, Cisco Routers and Switches. Ability to install and manage Cisco Firewall appliances. Design and implement network infrastructures for new office builds and office moves.
•Manage, monitor and maintain multi-campus Wireless Access Network. Currently using Unify hardware. This position could be involved in designing and installing the future wireless solution.
•Provide Incident Management via an on-call rotation for incident tickets with a primary focus on service restoration. Trouble isolation and resolution.
•Document network configurations. Keep documentation current and accurate.
•Work with vendor, peer groups, and team members as needed for investigation to identify and resolve network issues. Log and document discovery details, results and information that support findings of root cause.
•Take ownership of all assigned tickets you are a primary resource on. Ensure clear expectations are set, update tickets to show the current status, and see all assigned tickets to completion.
•Maintain Vivial network infrastructure equipment by providing both remote and onsite support to ensure high levels of network uptime.
•Assist other team members to resolve technical issues with the network. Analyze traffic patterns, monitoring output and verify QOS settings, to insure optimal performance of Lifesize Audio/Video Conferencing solution.
•Suggest improvements to Technology Solutions’ and business practices as recognized.
•Be proactive in seeking additional duties and responsibility.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
•Primary Network Engineer for a multi-office corporation. Build, manage, monitor and troubleshoot issues associated with Cisco MPLS Network. 55%
•Monitor and maintain acceptable system/service availability and performance. Investigate bottlenecks and optimization solutions. Maintain network system security policies. Audit security for anomalies. 10%
•VOIP Phone System experience is a plus.
•Performs as a Network Subject Matter Expert on a Project Team, planning, communicating, facilitating and executing the required activities associated with the Infrastructure Teams responsibilities on multi-team projects. 25%
•Work with vendors regarding system maintenance, enhancements and upgrades for H/W, Firmware and IOS. 10%
•Maintain and troubleshoot Windows 2008/2012 Servers in a Windows Active Directory environment.
•Multiple domain, multiple site, decentralized environment that includes internal domains, external domains and domains/systems in Hosted Data Centers.As required
•Light, occasional travel may be required for this position. <5%
