The Sr. Business Analyst must possess strong BA skills including past use of basic BA tools such as Context Diagrams, user story mapping, storyboarding as well as experience in Agile.
Strong communication skills-including the ability to provide compelling examples of work experience that demonstrates required experience.
The Senior Business Analyst exhibits both a breadth and depth of knowledge and experience with analysis techniques, has experience working on different types of projects in different business areas including new development and product support and enhancements, and has the ability to come up to speed in a new domain quickly.
The Senior Business Analyst is an advocate and advisor for the needs of the business, and acts as a leader in the BA team, providing mentorship to Business Analysts and participating in the effort for excellence in analysis best practices.
The Senior Business Analyst acts as a liaison between teams both in and outside the organization including product managers, software developers, educational researchers, content producers, and customer support representatives by translating customer and business needs into requirements. As a Senior BA, you will work closely with Product Managers to understand their vision for the product and elaborate the product requirements which will bring that vision to fruition. The documentation you produce will directly inform the solutions created by the technical teams and provide data to inform and enable [Client] management to confidently affect change which benefits the entire organization in a predictable and positive manner.
•Collaborate with and work under the direction of Senior Business Analysts to successfully perform analysis tasks
•Interact and communicate with staff at all levels of the organization to identify business and technical requirements for proposed changes or approved projects
•Create work products, such as analysis reports, functional and technical requirements, use cases, flow and data diagrams, to inform an audience with a broad range of experience, both technical and non-technical
•Investigate identified ideas or issues, and present to various and diverse audiences those clear, logical, actionable options
•Communicate issues, the reason to change and the urgency of proposed actions
•Proactively identify improvements that would increase efficiency or productivity in work effort, processes or application features
•Perform analysis and provide management with clear, concise information that informs data-driven decisions
•Work with Product Managers and stakeholders to validate and verify requirements and their implementation
•Work with business stakeholders to identify needs, issues, risks and/or solutions
•Ensure that organizational goals and issues are considered before implementation plans are completed
•Self-manage all levels of assigned analysis projects
•Develop a vision and understanding of the effects, processes and solutions toward helping all kids learn
•Build relationships across the organization to better understand [Client] and its direction
•Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization
Skills and Abilities
•Proficient working within a Microsoft-based environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint)
•Proven strong problem-solving and analytical skills
•Proven strong writing skills
•Advanced and developed negotiation, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
•Proven ability to remain confident and cool under pressure to perform in situations that are filled with more ambiguity than clarity
•Proven ability to use a variety of creative interviewing techniques to identify needs, issues and solutions; work with a diverse audience – business, management and technical
•Understanding of the elements of business analysis, root cause analysis and software development
•Experience working under different project management implementations, including Agile
•Proven ability to successfully work within small and large projects
•Understanding of both the organizational as well as technology goals
•Understanding of the areas of software development and system design
•Understanding of the issues that influence and affect the education sector including problems, needs, pain points, challenges and limitations
•Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with cross-functional business groups
•Ability and desire to work with a view towards continuous improvement
•Exhibit strong self-starter attributes
Education and Experience
•Minimum of five years of experience providing senior level business analysis
•Must have proven ability to quickly grasp [Client] processes and apply business analyst skills and knowledge in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision
•Understanding of the practice of business analysis and industry standards
•Pre-existing knowledge of [Client]’s core business highly desirable
•Bachelor’s degree in the field of business analysis, accounting, business administration, management information systems or computer science is preferred; equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of four year degree
